IVF
What is the IVF process?
The IVF process is started on the second or third day of the menstrual cycle, after conducting complete examinations for the couple. After that, the wife is subjected to a treatment program, and then the wife’s eggs are withdrawn and fertilized with the husband’s sperm in the laboratory and outside the wife’s womb, so that we have a group of embryos, and they are returned to the wife’s womb after 3-5 days, and then after 14 days the result of pregnancy appears.
When is the best age for IVF?
Age is a major factor in the failure of the process. The best age for IVF is between 18 and 25, and also between 25 and 35, but after 35 a woman's egg count decreases dramatically, and a man's sperm count decreases dramatically after 45 years.
When does the couple resort to the IVF program?
1- Blockage of the fallopian tube 2- Premature ovarian failure 3- Endometriosis 4- Compassionate fibroids 5- Ligation or removal of the fallopian tube 6- Poor sperm production 7- Unjustified infertility 8- Genetic diseases 9- Cancer
ICSI
♦️Under-microscopic fertilization is a type of fertilization. Its an Artificial process and no difference between that and IVF. ICSI is not a IVF, it is actually the product of the development of the idea of IVF.
♦️The idea of IVF began in 1978, while the idea of ICSI appeared in 1991. The difference is in their mechanism of action
The medical team works to activate the ovaries through the use of adjunctive medications that help produce a larger number of eggs, and these eggs are pulled at a specific and precise time of maturity.
Previous IVF processes
- In the previous IVF process, each egg was placed in a laboratory dish, surrounded by about 100 sperm, to provide the right conditions and allow one to penetrate the egg wall and fertilize it , but more precisely, by injecting each egg with one sperm under a microscope. And so he increased his success rate. The first successful IVF was performed at Oldham General Hospital in 1978 for a British woman who gave birth to her first tube baby, Louise Brown. The chance of a tube baby implant being successful is between 25% and 40%.
